Crucifixion was no bunny-hopping egg-rolling picnic! Read all about what our precious Lord and Saviour willingly endured that WE might be saved. Thank you, John Terry of Prophezine, for circulating this medical analysis of what really happened.
Think about it next time you see a cute little foil-wrapped bunny winking at you in some television commercial. :-(
Incidentally, Jesus did NOT come to earth to die for us. He came to show us how to live a life acceptable to the Father. Sooooo... are you? Am I? Are we at least trying to follow in Christ's footsteps? If not, why not? Hmmmmm??

In response to popular reaction to the above...
Last Thanksgiving during a totally uninspired message from the pulpit, the Lord gave me two messages. The first immediately followed a self-righteous prayer from one of the elders of our church:
"Lord, thank You for sending Your Son to die for us. Amen."
The Lord's reply (to me) to that was,
"I DIDN'T send My Son to die for you, I sent Him to show you how to live!"
There was no mistaking His meaning, then or now. We have gladly accepted Christ's *death* on our behalf, but too often blythely ignored the commands He gave us regarding our daily LIVES.
The second Thanksgiving revelation from the Lord was this:
The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved. - Jeremiah 8:20
HE WHO HAS EARS TO HEAR, LET HIM HEAR!!

FREE!! FREE!! FREE!!
Watchman Nee once said that Christianity begins with a great big DONE. As Jesus shouted from the cross,
"It is finished!!"
By His suffering and death and resurrection we have been given eternal life IF we will only accept it. Heaven is assured to all who choose to accept His sacrifice, turn from their self-serving ways and acknowledge Him as Lord! HALLELUJAH!!!
Would that our churches would shout that message from every pulpit every Sunday until at last the message reached its home in our hearts, not just in our minds! Intellectual acceptance can't compare to heart-knowledge of a truth of such immensity.
Our salvation is a free gift from the God Who created the universe -
not something that we have to earn by good works - not something that we could POSSIBLY be good enough to merit by our own righteousness - not something that we have to save up our pennies to purchase - not something that we have to come from the right side of the tracks to be worthy of ...
but FREE to every one of us who chooses to accept the Gift we are freely offered.
Sooooo... if somebody offered you a million dollars, would you reach out your hand and grab it?
If you heard somebody was giving away thousand-dollar bills, would you stand in a lineup for hours to get your share?
IF SOMEBODY DIED TO GIVE YOU ETERNAL LIFE, WOULD YOU THANK HIM AND TAKE THE GIFT THAT COST HIM SO VERY, VERY MUCH?
While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
FOR us. That's in our places - taking on Himself the wrath that we deserve for choosing our own way instead of God's. That's on our behalf - substituting His sinless life for our self-indulgent caricature of the abundant life God designed us to have. That's for love of us - the unconditional, forgiving love that overlooks our shortcomings and sees us as we may yet become if we accept His mercy.
Friends, there is no way on earth that any of us could possibly do anything that would compare to what Christ has already done on our behalf. We can only accept His free gift as totally undeserved largesse, and offer Him our lives in return, to do with as He sees fit. Remain as clay in His hands and let Him fit you for that which He has promised: abundant life now, eternal life hereafter.
Thank You, Jesus!!!
Amen.

Guest Poetess Jill Lemming reminds us
Jesus Prayed Inside A Garden...
Jesus prayed inside a garden where the roses were in bloom...
His heart was slowly breaking and His life was ending soon.
He wanted His disciples to understand His Father's plan,
but they were narrow in their thinking and they could not understand.
Jesus cried out to His Father in the garden late at night...
-- in the course of several hours, the world would know His plight.
When Jesus left the garden, He was nailed upon a cross,
and there He suffered terribly, for us, He paid the cost.
But God, in all His glory, would give us hope again...
His Son ascended from the grave to shine His light on man.
Now when I'm in my garden, as Jesus was that day...
I sit among the roses and I bow my head to pray;
"Thank You precious Jesus, for what You have done for me...
You prayed inside a garden, then you died to set me free."

Book Review : HOW TO LIVE IN HIGH VICTORY, by Harold Hill, et al. Paperback. ISBN 0882704214
This is the only book of which I've ever read the foreword, preface and introduction through three times, not because I didn't understand them but because I DID. Terrificly readable, frequently humorous and *superbly* Biblical, HOW TO LIVE IN HIGH VICTORY explains just that - how to overcome "Mud Ball Origins", "Boob-tube-itis", "Spiritual Drought", "Unbelief" and "A Blown Mind" - using everyday parallels like 'the bathtub parable' to drive home each point. Definite must-read!! - and it costs less than $10!!! Thank You, Jesus!!!! :-))

JOB POSTING!!
Wanted: Published fiction writers /
experienced fiction editors
Lynda Lotman writes, "I could use more writers/editors for my network. (I'm booked through June!)
... They would have to take a few short tests to demonstrate their qualifications for the job."
She continues, "I want to add writers/editors who can ghostwrite, critique, and compose
query letters. The ability to advise the writers regarding publishing
options would be a nice perk.
"If interested, please send a concise resume and a list of books
written/edited to mseditor@home.com (Word or RTF attachments).
Please note that I'm not an employer and I'm not looking for contractors;
the editor/writer would be receiving direct referrals and be completely
independent. (The networkers tend to use paypal.com to accept credit cards
from clients.)"
