Then saith he also to him that bade him, "When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompense be made thee.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:
And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just."
(Luke 14: 12-14)
These are the words of our Savior two millenia ago. These, and "Why call ye Me Lord, and do not what I say?"

And what is our reaction? We take a few cans of food to the food bank that wouldn't be necessary if we did what He said. And we quibble over which version of the Bible is a more accurate translation. And we complain that the Bible is too difficult for our poor human minds to comprehend. Well, here's what the late Peter Marshall had to say about that:

There are aspects of the Gospel that are puzzling and difficult to understand.
But our problems are not centered around the things we don't understand, but rather in the things we do understand,
the things we could not possibly misunderstand.
"[O]ur problem is not so much that we don't know what we should do.
"We know perfectly well . . . but we don't want to do it."
- from Mr. Jones, Meet the Master, p. 128,
Sermons and Prayers of Peter Marshall

And that's the gospel truth.

Interesting fact...
The kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:20, 21). If you're miserable, perhaps it's because your Self hasn't yet vacated the throne of your life ... ya think? Remember, He is the Good Shepherd -- and a shepherd helps his sheep, but he sure doesn't take orders from 'em! Don't just count on Him to get you out of a pinch when you need Him -- count on Him to supply your every need IF you seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
And guess what? In a kingdom, it's the KING Who's on the throne giving orders and distributing His largesse.
If He isn't at the epicentre of your life, you'll never enter His kingdom.

Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come visibly, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:20, 21)

Incidentally, I'm still fighting desperately to shelve the "me" in my own life. It isn't easy... but He has promised it will be worth it.

OHzone UPdates...

Not much to report on this month as far as OHzone is concerned. The Lord and Archie and I have been "wrestling at Jabok" over His apparent leading that we are to sell our beloved Fullmeasure Farm -- 100 acres of heaven with a century-old 5-bedroom home, a barn and driveshed, an old one-room schoolhouse, two drilled wells, a woodlot, a river and trout stream, and many, many thousands of tons of Grade A sand and gravel, all located with 2 km of paved roads in any direction, and less than two hours from Toronto International Airport, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, or London, Ontario, Canada. :*(

I think we've pretty well come to terms with Him at last -- yesterday I got a truckload of empty cartons so we can start packing. We're not sure yet where He wants us to go, but it's looking like it may be a small grocery store up in cottage country. Archie sure will miss his goats!!!

We haven't had any offers of purchase yet for Fullmeasure, but since this is His will, He will provide. Our part is just to be ready to boogie when He opens that door.

"Where He leads me, I will follow..."

A Special Treat...

Extra-special super-dooper recipe for a miracle, compliments of my friend Char Eiland. Author unknown -- if you have any information about who wrote this gem, please e-mail me, okay? Now.... ENJOY:

Recipe for a Miracle

1 cup tension
2 cups stress
1 1/2 teaspoons of guilt
2 heaping cups of limited time
3/4 tablespoon of urgency
A dash of "no other choice"
3 heaping cups of faith

Fold ingredients gently into a bowl. Mix vigorously and add a few tears. You'll sweat a little as you knead the dough. Pack it firmly between your hopes and dreams and form into a perfect little ball. Sprinkle it with a little faith (we recommend Hebrews 11), rolling the ball in the flour until fully covered.

Place it under a veil of belief and allow it to rise.

Put it in an oven that has been pre-set at the perfect temperature for the heat of trials and tribulations.

Allow it to brown under the warmth of God's love. Remove after due season and allow to cool in the confidence of His promise.

Garnish with your praises. Arrange neatly on a platter of thankfulness and serve to friends, families and, oh yes, strangers ... invite them too!

NEWS BYTES

  • Just because the news media aren't full of reports from Israel doesn't mean things are any quieter over there. :*(( Keep yourself current at ICEJ News from Jerusalem
    http://www.icej.org

  • Thought I'd pass along this note from Rudy, chiefly because I'm famous for deleting directories and then wishing I hadn't...

    Dear Clients at BrinkHostDotCom,

Today (and yesterday) we spent hours of valuable time to track down the trouble with our server. Today we found that one of the users simply deleted his /logs/ directory, causing the server to become instable and finally simply crashed the domain name server twice (!!)

Because of this I urge you ...
-- NEVER remove a directory like "/logs/" or "/cgi-bin/" from your website. The server needs them to read/write file requests, for its statistics,
-- NEVER continue to use unstable CGI-scripts.. they might cause a lot of trouble too.

    Rudy Brinkman, BrinkHostDotCom

  • And a note about a TV special I missed. :-( God bless re-runs! Surely it will be shown again at a later date, on a channel we can get. :-)

ABC's Peter Jennings will air his special "The Search for Jesus" tomorrow night, Monday, June 26. It will be televised in the East from 900 - 1100 p.m. EDT. Please check your television guide for the time in your cities.

Jennings was interviewed by Larry King on CNN. He was very excited about the program. Here is the link to the transcript.
